Anyone experience with the waypoints? Am I right in supposing that one waypoint is no waypoint, as you have to use a second one to change the course upon reaching the first one. And, a second question, are they to be payed with cards in the same way as the programming points? I.e. first 1 card, second 2 cards, third 3 cards, etc. ?

You have understood the waypoints correctly... Unfortunately...

F**kin h*ll.. Does someone know if there is a complaint process ongoing for how the card thigns works?. I just spent 8 EUR trying to get some programming cards bu tthe shitty system keeps giving me waypointcards

The only way to complain looks like not spending any real money on the game anymore. Official VR position is that the new card is "for the benefit of the players" as quoted in the other thread.

Posting on the Facebook page is probably useless because they can delete the comments. Twitter might work slightly better in that regard.

I emailed VR about the fact that I was not getting any auto sails cards. This is the reply:

Thank you for your message.

You'll get a few free cards when you start the race and then they can be purchased from the card store or obtained throughout the race with the barrel at the top of the screen. You may also find the following articles useful:
How can I obtain cards?
Where can I buy cards?

I hope you'll have the chance at getting these cards in your game.

Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have in the future.

Comments please ladies and gentlemen...

That's the typical canned response you can expect from VR support.

Most of you probably remember the major screw-up during the last edition, then Sébastien Destremau became a legend with his statement on video telling us "Folks, it's just a game"

Besides, their terms and conditions at the time used to say that they can close your account for expressing negative opinion about them. So we all are posting here on our own risk.

Hey. What is the email address that we can use to send complaints?
Post by iconPost by marcusbelgicus | 2017-10-24 | 01:44:28
What we could do is that a broad range of players (let's say 200-300) send them a mail asking the same day to change their navigation pack. Maybe they would change their mind.

Per my post on another thread here, I already emailed support on this, and will happily send a follow-up if you select a day

What a crappy and ridiculous system. You spend a lot of money and end up with a lot of cards you don't want or need. Besides the Waypoints don't work. My boat got stuck between 2 waypoints on the south side of the island with the boat pointing in the wrong direction and keeps telling me "Bad sail". I quit.

Hi, I'm a newbie to this and was after some advice.

I've never used the waypoints before so decided to use the program to go round the island. I’ve woken up this morning and while I’ve not run aground I have given the island a wider berth than I was planning.

On the approach it looks like my track has gone about 9nm to the SE of the island before making the turn north and shaving it closer than planned. In the process I’ve lost over 1000 places (from around 400 to 1500).

So my question – is it possible that this is just from using program rather than waypoints and not getting close to the island? Or could my boat have run aground and then dislodged itself?

Another random bullshit limitation with waypoints is that you can't place or edid one less than 15 minutes ahead.

So if you want to place a WP 1 mile ahead to optimize the rounding or just have to go out and leave the boat unattended you are out of luck.

Same if you see that you have to move the WP because the wind changed or something. Baaaam and it's gone. Then you have to delete it and they don't get you the money back.

Thanks for explaining why I couldn't fine tune my Porto Santo rounding
