Hello everybody,

Firstly, many thanks to Cvetan for his incredible work

My question, maybe stupid I know, is : Do we have to trust VMG by VR (green color) or VMG indicated by zezo in Polar Chart ?

For instance, in Magellan Race, I chose the VMG by zezo at 65° but in VR, it seems to be 61°.

It is obvious I forgot something but I don't know what

Never trust the game with the VMG. It's extremely buggy.

I don't know how they achieve it, maybe the VMG range is limited below 60 or something, but 60 is definitely not correct for the Magellan boat - about 5% less VMG than 65.

Also, toxcct's polars site has much smoother UI than my simple chart:

We both use the unmodified game data, so you can check the exact numbers yourself.

I wonder if they also use the "badSailTolerance" attribute to calculate the color of the compass.
But they obviously do it wrong, because the actual boat speed is what we calculate with our polars charts...

We have to admit the game works fine most of the time, but fails miserably in certain cases.

One of them is Magellan upwind, I guess there is some hardcoded limit like (for i = 30 .. 60) { check_best_vmg } because it's persistent.

Another case is at the start of races. And then it just fails randomly sometimes.

Many thanks ! That's what I thought, the color of the compass is not really reliable. I will use toxcct's polar, it's easy to understand and i prefer to trust in mathematics than in a green color

Thanks for your very quick reply !
