The question is, what are the precise times that the weather updates become available.

The weather updates have time stamps of 00:00, 06:00, 12:00 and 18:00 UTC
This refers to the time that the initial conditions are observed and fed to the model.

Updates are available and begin downloading in both the game and Zezo 1:40 after the time stamp. You can see how much of the new forecast has been downloaded in Zezo by the red isochrone on the map, or by hovering your cursor over the label "GFS" near the bottom right corner of the map. The full update is usually complete 3 hours after the time stamp.

For a variety of reasons (almost never Zezo's fault) the downloads may fail or not be insync with the game. If you observe current wind direction or strength than what is expected at the beginning of a Zezo route, then this is one of those times. Things usually come into sync by the end of the download period.

Small correction: The first 3-hour-forecast becomes available 3:30 hours after the cycle starts and it takes about 1:30-1:40 until the last forecast is ready.

See this NCEP page: https://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/prodstat/index.html#TARGET

Scroll down to the second box, labelled "00 UTC GFS" (the first box is about another forecast model, NAM, but VR and Zezo use GFS).

As has been mentioned elsewhere on the forum, VR does not simply switch to the new forecast. Instead they gradually shift from the old to the new, over 60-90 minutes, starting immediately or up to 30min after the new forecast becomes available.

I collected some data a while ago. I found it interesting but it wasn't 100% conclusive. If can find it I'll post it here.

Hardtack is correct. My apologies got confused with all the time zone conversions.

To simplify, the key times are 03:40, 09:40, 15:40 and 21:40 UTC. Those are the earliest times that you can get a full routing on a 10 minute VR update with fresh data. Wait until you see the update post to Dashboard. The weather update is usually available a few minutes earlier, but then you'd have a stale boat position.

En sera t’il de même lors du prochain changement d’heure ?

Hello
I'm a new user from Zezo. First I want to say that I'm really impressed by this tool, and also by the great support. The first time I asked a question I received a mail a few hours later... really impressed

On this question I have a doubt. I write this message at 1:00pm CET (France time) which if I'm not wrong is 11:00 am UTC
In the maps I still see GFS : 00Z
I tried to restart / refresh Zezo, but did not change.
Did I miss something ?

At 2pm CET I now see GFS06Z.. probably I just need to be more patient...

It should show a time stamp of 0600Z now. If you had hovered your cursor over that time stamp at 11:00 UTC you would have seen something like (gfs t06Z + 202h), indicating that 202 hours of the 0600Z update had downloaded so far, with a red isochrone on the map to indicate how far that was.

So, basically, you observed it while you were receiving the early updates, but before it had completed and the "official" time stamp changed.
