Good morning, everyone.

I wanted to ask a simple question about the Vendée Globe. Will this race be covered by the ZEZO.ORG website? And if so, when will it be available at the connection? To prepare its route as well as possible.

Thank you, in advance, for the answer and above all for this magnificent work, for many years.

Gilles

Thank you for the redirection. So let's wait, with confidence, for the availability of the Vendée Globe.

See you soon maybe on the virtual ocean!

I will add it in a day or two.

Just have to dig out the ice limit code from the previous VG and check the new polars.

About the route ... most of the time there is not much choice. First you go to Fernando de Noronha, then intercept then next low pressure system.

After Ecuador, there is always a possibility to pass the "Saint Helene" live.
(it worked for me on the last two VG)

I just saw the exact ice limits. Yes, shortcut via st. Helena is not that unlikely.

Race is added.

Hello, will Zezo take the red line into account to draw the route?

Bonjour, Zezo prendra-t-il en compte la ligne rouge pour tracer l'itinéraire?

Hi Cvetan!
Did You read last news from VR? Was theirs one click to route prediction made in cooperation with You?

Just kidding :)

They said somewhere it's a cooperation with some real-world router company.
It was one of the online providers. Sailgrib, IIRC.

Anyway - I don't trust them.
Zezo ever for ever! :)

Dunno. A real router should not be much different from this one. Maybe better. Someone with a VIP pack will tell us ;-)

You don't need to be VIP to see the route, only to automatically set the program points beyond the first 2.

Let's just say that it does not correspond to Zezo routing.

Oh, you mean that funny Help button that keeps giving results like this:

*lol*
It may be worth paying FP this time around just to see it in action.
The screenshots on the VR forum thread at least show isochrones - is that also a VIP feature?

Post by iconPost by zezo | 2020-11-02 | 22:01:27
This was few days ago. I just found it amusing and saved the screenshot.

I don't have access to it being neither VIP nor FP, but from this thread

https://forum.virtualregatta.com/topic/13772-le-nouveau-joujou-de-vr/?tab=comments#comment-281486

... it seems it's 1hr intervals for the first 6 programmings, and 3hrs for the remaining ones.

Do you know if it's possible to fine-tune the programming manually?

Refresh the tab Cvetan and reload the client. You are looking at the old version.

VIP and FP not required to see the route, only to automatically set program points.
It will set the first two for you with a free boat.

It looks limited in time frame, like won't take you to the finish in Mauricienne. It's like running Zezo with timescale set to 1 day. Takes you to closest point in that time frame.

I'm not going to f'up my current run. But someone please try it and see if it sets waypoints or programs.

Post by iconPost by zezo | 2020-11-02 | 22:00:41
Thanks. That's funny too.

First it's limited in some circle. Then it's limited to 48 hours.

Then you call it again and the destination is outside the circle, but if you try to move it it pops back in.

And then the track is represented by a waypoint every hour. No word about VMG TWA.

Will be really interesting how it handles land features and marks.
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2020-11-02 | 22:19:56
It uses 1-hour step. And very coarse land map. Just routed myself around the Canaries and it keeps like 20 mile margin.

Any idea how the winner of the "Nemo Point Challenge" is defined? Pretty valuable prize there. I wonder if it's just the invisible gate at 125W, or if it's a more specifically defined radius around Point Nemo. The game just shows a big X logo without any clear finish perimeter.

Either way, there's a good chance the winner of that challenge will have to deviate from optimal routing, possibly significantly, to win. The value of the watch makes it worthwhile though, It will make for an odd dynamic.

I guess the ice limit forces people up there, though... So no one is going to be diving to Antarctica to hit that gate early, or anything like that.

New enhancement. They will now offer to sell you a Full Pack if you try to set a 3rd program point once the game is already in progress.

To answer YMSA. If you read the very tortured English carefully, it's the first boat to cross the finish line of the race, after passing Point Nemo. The bit about Point Nemo I think is just a marketing tie in. Maybe someone can interpret the French version of the announcement and see if they make the same conclusion.

Edit: Second watch now for winner of the race, so maybe my interpretation of Point Nemo award is all wrong.
Post by iconPost by LinusVanpelt | 2020-11-03 | 10:22:38
My interpretation is that to win the watch of the Nemo Challenge, there are 2 conditions :
1st : to be the first at the nemo area (definition of Nemo area ???)
AND
2nd : to finish the race
I have no doubt than the first boat to reach nemo area will finish the VG but...
so this this challenge will be close only after the arrival of this boat that could be the last on finish line but in time to be ranked.
Post by iconPost by YourMomSA | 2020-11-03 | 13:02:06
I agree with this assessment, but my question was about the definition of the "Nemo Area". Hopefully it'll be coded in a way that can be shown in Dashboard, even if it isn't shown in the main game. It's likely that a couple thousand boats will approach the area as a lead pack, on the front side of a weather system, and that whoever wants to win that watch will have to deviate from the optimal overall VG course. If a few hundred deviate, it'll be important that it be clear where the "win" is defined, or all but one will be confused and unhappy.
Post by iconPost by BooBill | 2020-11-03 | 13:10:21
And, will there be a Pt Nemo ranking gate, or will the winner of the watch be a mystery even to himself till the finish? Will a couple of hundred people spend a month thinking they've won it, they just need to get to Sables-d'Olonne to collect it? Will the winner be a friend or relative of some VR staff member?
Post by iconPost by Hardtack | 2020-11-03 | 13:30:06
I found nothing in the WebSocket and HTTP messages except for the invisible gate at 125W mentioned by YourMomSA. Very confusing. Sounds like the race winner will, by definition, also win the Nemo challenge.
